Sarah “Dino” Badino Vielwerth

Curiosity, investigation, carefulness, storytelling, attention, wonder.

These are some of the key words in my practice as a ceramicist, and as a human being. When something catches my interest, I tend to dive deep into it and learn all I can about it, before I let it pass through my creative process and out as a physical work. This way I get to share my findings with others, and I love seeing the same interest and excitement start to spark in the people that view my work.

I’m part artist, researcher, maker, communicator and thinker. Using the tactile, aesthetic and materialistic properties of clay, I can create pieces that activate the viewer’s senses as well as their emotions.

Working with clay means standing on the shoulders of generations of makers. I feel immensely lucky to be able to choose art as my profession, as I know many of the creative women that came before me in my family would have thrived with such an opportunity. They are the ones who encouraged and nourished my creative side, and I carry them with me in my work.
