For as long as I remember, I have had the urge to create. I often felt that there weren’t enough letters in the alphabet to cover what I wanted to say, so art and music became a way for me to express myself, and keeping my hands busy would calm me. Sharing what I have made and letting others take part in the creative process has become a way for me to connect with people. It has also made me realise, how much community and collaboration impacts and improve what and how I make.
Glass is a sensitive material that requires presence, which is one of the reasons why I love it so much. When I work with glass, I have to leave problems and struggles outside the workshop and be in the moment with the material. I turn off my thoughts and let the muscle memory take over. It is in this flow state that I enjoy the process the most. I believe a piece made with joy and passion carries that energy with them and is transferred to the audience, which is why enjoying the process is a core value for me.
