In my works, I explore the interplay between non-clay materials, such as textiles, and my own clay objects. Rooted in a deep need of collecting and preserving objects and moments in time I found my interest in collages, everyday situations and objects, which I collect or capture through photography. My biggest inspiration is my grandma’s home, which is filled with the most interesting and beautiful collection of objects.
Each object carry a story connected to the object and to her, which she can tell me about. In my own work I aim to do the same, only for the viewer. While the collected objects serve as records of time, I am using the clay to understand their qualities. Through experiments in clay, I am able to freely explore the materials’ possibilities and limitations.
Connected to my interest in collages I found installations to be a way of displaying. By placing the clay and non-clay materials in an exhibition space I can create a dialogue between them and the surrounding environment. As a result, its appearance is constantly changing, creating a different experience for the viewer and myself – allowing me to tell my own stories.
